The American Prayer Vase "RAINBOW PRISM" (The only genie bottle with the magic carpet™) by Big Guy's Magic

Big Guy’s Magic is proud and excited to bring to the magic community a fresh new look, and major improvement, for the classic Prayer Vase/Genie Bottle effect. Place the end of a rope (included) into the bottle and watch as the invisible Genie inside grabs it and holds on tight! And then watch as he lets go at your command!

Our vase is a beautiful, professional prop you will be proud to display and perform. The unique design offers additional features previously unavailable: The vase geometry itself allows for an extremely light touch when performing this trick, making it look all-the-more impossible. And we’ve incorporated the Magic Carpet™ into the design to quiet any talking that the gimmick might do. These improvements make the effect not only easy to perform, but allow handlings that look truly magical. And to answer the question that everybody’s been asking: Yes, it is indeed a real Magic Carpet™.

  1. Not your father's Prayer Vase. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 12th Jul 2021

I've always loved the Genie Bottle. I think it falls into the puzzle category because its so easy to hand out and let them try to replicate the way it scoffs at physics. I used to pitch the cheap plastic models in my Shoppe, but I've created a few lovely versions out of pretty much any attractive (appropriate) bottle I can find.

This is easily the highest quality version that I've ever seen for sale. The finish is somehow mesmerizing both in texture and color. Spinning it around feels a little like watching a spiral disk spinning. It is visually interesting. It's also fairly heavy in the hand, giving it a feeling of a quality prop. Lastly, it really looks like a vase.

I have two small quibbles with this wonderful prop. First, the magic carpet does muffle the sound, but I'd been looking forward to a completely silent handling. It isn't. On the other hand, it doesn't take much to cover the sound and this shouldn't be a problem to any decent performer.

The second issue is more with a personal move. During my pitch, I was able to almost automatically remove the "Genie" when I handed the bottle and the rope to a spectator. This was due to the cheap models having two flat sides. This model doesn't. As a result, I'm going to need to find a new move to clean it up. That's my problem, and not a problem with the prop itself.

I have no idea if I will ever ring this into one of my shows. If I ever have a need for a Prayer Vase, this might well fit the bill. In the meantime, I have a fun and beautiful display item to add to the eclectic things that I can grab off the shelf when company comes over.

  3. Best Vase out there 5 Star Review

Posted by on 7th Apr 2020

Honestly, I never thought I would want to perform the Genii bottle effect. I remember it from my first TV Magic Set. This changed my mind. First of all it is a beautiful prop. I could see using it for other routines. If you turn it upside down, it functions like a little pedestal that can hold a playing card or other small prop. As far as performing the routine that it was meant to do, suspending a rope and then the vase on the rope, there are some subtle things in the very design of the vase that allow for very natural handlings. It looks like the rope just clings to the inside of the vase. If you look at the video, you can roll the vase on its side which makes it seem empty and looks fair. You can even load the rope in from this position and then pick up the vase s the rope is suspended. This looks magical. Finally, one of the problems with the original vase design was a particularly noise created by the secret gimmick. Big Guy has added his "Magic Carpet" that all but eliminates any talking. This is a fresh look at a trick that most of us have forgotten about.
