Product Description
When Drawing Room Deceptions was first published, it became one of the fastest-selling magic books in history. It earned awards, rave reviews, and a place among the books serious magicians recommend. Written by English magician Guy Hollingworth, it brought together elegant technique, original thinking, and theatrical presentations in a collection that continues to influence card magic, over twenty-five years later.Inside, you'll find phenomenal and groundbreaking routines like "Waving the Aces," Guy's stand-up handling of Vernon's "Twisting the Aces," and "Ambidextrous Interchange," a technically astonishing transposition routine. There's "The Cassandra Quandary," a prediction effect that inspired variations by magicians including Joshua Jay and Luke Jermay, a Triumph routine featuring Guy's in-the-hands false riffle shuffle, and a three-phase Card Under Box routine designed for performances with limited table space. Not to mention "The Reformation," Guy's approach to the signed torn-and-restored card plot, which uses no gimmicks, and is well worth the technical demands. Whether you're looking for inventive premises, powerful routines, or just interesting sleights to practice, this book is a goldmine for serious card magicians.
Beyond the magic, the book reflects Guy's distinctive style.
While this expanded edition features a new deep red cover and gold accents, it remains reflective of Guy's distinctive style. Also included in this new edition is an extra chapter. Written over a quarter of a century after the original publication, Guy shares updated handlings, tips, ideas, and lessons learned from decades of using these routines in the real world.
